Falklands ducks and geese

Penguins naturally grab everyone’s attention when visiting the Falklands but there are a heap of other birds. Ducks and geese are everywhere, with the islands ponds, waterways, lagoons and beaches providing ideal habitat. The Falklands steamer duck is one of only two endemic bird species, so named because of their rapid steamboat-like paddling across the water. The other species of ducks and geese are also found throughout South America. There are also grebes which eluded me on this trip.
