Taranaki is a fantastic area to visit with plenty of opportunities for nature lovers to enjoy it’s outdoor wonders. From the wild, eroding black-sand coastline, to the spectacular conical Mt Taranaki cloaked in mossy forest, there is plenty to see and do. The west coast sunsets are stunning. The area has an incredible network of walking and cycle tracks to enable you to get out and enjoy it all. On a winter’s weekday, I snuck up to Pouakai Tarn, passing the tourist conga line, and had the tarn with perfect reflections completely to myself for the last hour at sunset. While much photographed, it’s not hard to see why everyone wants to go there. Take a look at my new Taranaki gallery. I hope to add to this in the future.
