Underwater Critters

A myriad of tiny and fascinating critters inhabit the underwater world. Often the masters of camouflage, they can be easily overlooked – many species of shrimps, crabs, seaslugs and even fish are still being discovered. Amongst my favourites are pygmy seahorses, of which there are now several identified species. Full grown adults can be as tiny as a few centimeters and they are very hard to spot.

Check out this tiny white frogfish (yes it is a fish!) that is so good at looking like a piece of sponge that it hardly ever needs to move to evade detection.
