This wild West Coast beach is a hop, skip and a jump from Auckland city and popular, with several walking tracks and views galore. But at sunrise and sunset the beach is almost empty. I was lucky enough to experience both calm and stormy days on a recent visit and loved having the beach to myself at either end of the day.
