White fronted tern courtship

While humans try to attract a potential partner with flowers, white fronted terns take courtship to a whole new level offering fresh fish to impress the ladies. Both females and males will grow a mullet hairdo, and they develop a peachy-orange blush to signal they’re available. They’re entertaining to watch. You have to have empathy for some of the poor males standing around looking decidedly rejected when no-one accepts their fish, or even worse, it gets stolen off them after all their hard work.
